About Shamrock Bar & Grill
Shamrock Bar and Grille, located in Lexington, KY, opened its doors in September of 1993. John Lynaugh and Bob Blackburn brought the feel of Lynagh’s Pub on campus out to the suburbs of Lexington. Everything John does is very unique, including the large wood table he and Bob turned into a 21 tap draft wall that was the centerpiece of the bar! We recently updated our draft wall and put in a new draft system that boasts 24 taps! Shamrock’s soon became a melting pot of everything Lexington had to offer; college kids, professors, suits and everything in between.
Over the years, changes have been made to help the improvement of Shamrock’s. A deck was constructed to add a new feel in the spring and summer. In 2001, C.O. and Heather Trump came full-circle (C.O. was a bartender for “The Rock” when it first opened) and bought out John Lynaugh. In December of 2013, Steve Reed, a former cook/kitchen manager/General Manager bought out Bob Blackburn. While John and Bob have retired, their vision is still alive almost three decades later. In 2021 we built our large covered patio that just adds to the "Shamrock feel". Through all of the changes, the constant has always been the food. While the O’Round burger keeps the tried and true coming in, the entire menu is well known for being some of the best pub food anywhere! Generous portions and great quality that won’t break the bank has always been our motto. With great food, cold beer, live music, a great place to watch sports and a friendly atmosphere, Shamrock’s is a no-brainer, for those looking for a “true” neighborhood bar and grille.
In April of 2006, we opened our second location on Hartland Parkway. Rick Perry joined in with us on our new adventure, making his and Heather’s world also come full-circle (Heather had worked for Rick for years when he was the proprietor of Spud’s). Our new location has become a huge success for us on the south side of Lexington. This location has become a great gathering spot for families and youth sports teams. In 2019, Charlie Andrade, long time bartender and manager, bought out Rick when he retired.
Both locations welcome everyone, we strive to continue the tradition of being exactly what our community expects of us. While times and trends have changed, some things have stayed the same. We love making homemade food, serving cold beer, supporting local musicians, being a great spot to watch all of your favorite sports teams and being a part of our community.
Shamrock’s is a mom and pop bar and grille. We don’t try to pretend to be anything other than what we are. The owners, employees and customers are all family. Everyone is welcome and we strive to be great, whether it be for lunch, dinner or just a drink! Erin Go Braugh!
